Subject: RE: Poor Fellow My Country
G'day Murray,

Ted Egan, who is immensely popular with both Country Music fans and folkies in Australia worked as a Northern Territory Patrol Officer before gaining a Bachelor of Arts degree from the ANU, majoring in Australian Studies and Politics. He has always had a strong sympathy for the Aboriginal people he worked with and is remebered by them with real affection.

His Aboriginal material is written with real collaboration and genuine concern ... and it comes out in tthe songs. He has also written songs about other minority groups in the Australian context - Darwin Chinese and Broome's pearl divers come to mind. I am not sure if he is on the internet yet ... but I would expect there to be atleast a fan site out there.

I have met Ted and his Lady Neris Evans at Jamberoo and national Folk Festivals and he is a real character - and an Australian with real concerns about eveyone in the country.

Regards,

Bob Bolton
