For the record I would never break into a group singing with books and say quit singing with the books, I personally don't like it.   The opposite happens all the time, plus we get to hear how exclusive we are and how can they sing if they don't have the words in front of them (that is why God made us able to hum).. I would either accomodate to the group or I would leave to find a group more to my preference..remember that I do not have access to much music..a few times a year, as opposed to someone in Seattle could ifnd something any day of the week..so I have to make these time-consuming and expensive trips count and judge if they are worth my going to..more books late at night, less chance. More flourescent lights and no efforts to turn them off (because people can't read their blue books is a very big reason), less chance. mg
