Sometimes Irene wears pajamas,
Sometimes Irene wears a gown,
And sometimes Irene wears nothing at all,
And then she's the talk of the town.

Our house is largely unheated at night because the heat from the woodstove doesn't reach the bedroom. I don't have much hair on top, so I wear a stocking cap.

Mama in her kerchief, and I in my cap
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap...
