Brook trout... speckled trout. Very colourful fish. Good eatin in the spring, early summer and fall. Not so good during warm weather.

I once spent a day in a boat Labrador fishin lakers while working in Churchill Falls. To get back to camp, we had to shore that boat and walk about a km along some rapids to the next lake. When we got to the next boat, the son of the guy who owned the camp was waiting and he had four 4 to 6 pound speckles. Got em on fly in the rapids. I asked if he would trade me the 6 pounder for all four of my 12 to 20 pound lakers. Not a chance. I missed out FLY fishing for huge speckles! People pay thousands of dollar for that opportunity. I was SOOOO pissed off... still am when I think about it.
