It's usually lefty-loosey, rightie-tightie in most countries EXCEPT when the bolt/nut is on something subjected to torque in the loosening direction. If you can't see the threads or read the manual (like, who does THAT!?) you just try both ways and hope you don't damage your nut and you have to superglue your whatsit back on.
