I don't see Tom Jones' "Delilah" quite the way you do. He did not write it. He did not do anything but make a great and popular "splash" with it. He is singing it as a tragedy, not as something that one should emulate.

This song is sung in first person. The tragedy stems not only from his actions, but from the first person's attitudes that caused the actions. He is regretting them all: attitudes and actions.

I do not hear anything in this song that condones violence against women, but I do hear regret that his own weakness has brought him to this.

This is a great song. It is well sung. It can be a great sing-a-along. I am positive it will never convince any stupid misogynistic male to behave similarly. (The minor key alone is enough to act as a warning: Don't DO This!") Let's just enjoy it and sing along with it, and laugh at the parodies, just as we do for the Child ballads that describe far worse crimes.
