I have a cell phone and I ported my house phone over to Google Voice. It's a one-time fee of $20, but now when I'm using in a browser that I'm signed into via my Google account from, every phone number is a Google Voice link. If I mouse over and click my cell phone rings and as soon as I pick up it rings at the number I want to call. If you have a phone plan that has enough minutes you can use those instead of paying for a house phone, but that home number is yours to keep as part of the Google Voice account.
