If you get in touch with people in Longview/Kelso or Portland whom you could carpool with, there might be several possibilities for getting you back to Astoria by car without your having to drive at night in the rain. (Besides, it never rains in the Pacific NW on April 1, so you'd pretty much be assured of clear, dry weather.)
