Yes, Eastern Canada is fairly much appalled by political attitudes in Alberta, though we do like the scenery out there. ;-) And the music too.

There is indeed an East-West split in Canada, and it's been growing. But Alberta's a special case. It's like Texas North. The impression I get of Albertans is that they'd rather be Americans than Canadians...same as the editorial staff at the Toronto Sun.

Having lived in the USA once for 10 years myself and having lived in Canada for the rest of my life, I can't sympathize with or even fathom the Albertan viewpoint when it comes to that. I feel like getting down on my knees and kissing the ground whenever I return to Canada from the USA. Would I die to keep this country free from what is grandly termed "the American Way"? You betcha. I don't like fascism.
