There are ways to extract the riches of the earth with much lesser enviromental damage, but rape and plunder is by far the one with the biggest monetary payback to greedy companies. That leaves them lots of extra cash to line the pockets of politicians to approve such concepts as free trade.

The resources of this country should be developed for the greatest benefit of its citizens! Trudeau had that concept right with his national energy policy but greed from Alberta's politicians and oil companies sunk that concept with a "let them freeze in the dark" attitude. We don't need one damn cent of China's money and as long as they support arseholes like Assad we should be giving them the cold shoulder! Instead we send delegations led by Harper to kiss their arses!
