Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat mojo needed for kidney stone
Well the stone has returned to the kidney. Apparently when they did the stent they pushed it back in and it is now an a "lower chamber" where the stone doesn't have too much of a tendency to want to get out. They said to leave it for a month as there is still some inflammation from the stent, and then they will see about blasting it. Of course if it tries to escape again it'll probably be back to the emergency room... In general I'm not too impressed with the Urology practice and their professionalism - the questions that should have been obvious if they'd looked at the chart weren't phrased as verifying information - more like a clueless "what are you in here for, I haven't had time to look". It's a huge practice with offices all over town and I really felt like a cog in the wheel - all consultations very rushed. The last consult was with a Phsycian's Assistant who took the time to answer my questions and explain what was going on. I told him I appreciated it and he said "That's why I'm a PA and not a doctor". It just seems to be a more relaxed relationship and maybe they allow them more time with the patient. So I'm kinda on pins and needles hoping that this stone doesn't try to come out again before they can blast it. The stent must have broken it up a little bit, it's only 5mm as opposed to 6mm, but that still is considered a large stone to pass.
