We were going right by the yard where the car is today, and my wife encouraged me to stop for a last "dig" in the mess. I groped around in the trunk area and found one good casual shoe of hers undamaged. She leaned over the front seat (no way the back doors would open) and found the other one, where I thought I had everything out.
