Are you suggesting that the French don't wash, David? ;-) What about the women? I don't mind if they don't shave...(their armpits, I mean)...but the not washing aspect worries me a bit.

As far as where to go....What about Holland or Denmark? Or Norway? They seem like nice places to me, although Norway is a bit too far north for my taste. I like warm weather.

I've heard that Guiana (British Guiana?) is quite lovely.
