I just read on Yahoo news yesterday about the arrest of college student Lauren Medina at McCall's Pumpkin Patch in Moriarty, NM. She had spent $75 there, but apparently forgot to pay for a $2 pumpkin. McCall's called the police in spite of Ms. Medina offering to pay for the pumpkin. She was arrested and is to appear before Magistrate Judge Steve Jones tomorrow Tuesday (02/21/12) morning. She was offered a year of probation if she would plead guilty. She is maintaining her innocence and appears to be headed for trial by jury. For all the armchair internet activists out there, I'm providing the following: McCall's has a website and Facebook page. Magistrate Steve Jones can apparently be reached at 505-832-4496 and/or 505-384-2926. I'm hoping to help raise enough interest in, and attention to this matter, to stop this ridiculous waste of taxpayers' money. Maybe one of you 'catters out there could compose an appropriate corrido.
