Subject: Gren Bartley album launch Leics 1 March
Thursday 1 March sees Gren Bartley come to The Musician to launch his new album, Songs To Scythe Back The Overgrown, which already has a four star review from Spiral Earth

Described by Mike Harding as "one to watch" and R2 magazine as "an acoustic finger-picking guitar and banjo player who has few if any equals in his age group" Gren started off playing in a duo with fiddler Tom Kitching (Pilgrim's Way) but has always had a parallel solo career. He sits on the edge of the ever growing link between English and American folk music and explores the whole range from traditional English songs to the darkest American blues ballads.

You can watch him here and get a taste of his astonishing guitar work:

Support comes from Julia Disney, a new young singer-songwriter who won the Shrewsbury Folk Festival Open Mic competition in 2009 and has since played alongside artists like Tim van Eyken as well as in her own right.

Tickets £9 from The Musician or wegottickets
