good to see how highly his work is regarded by the younger crop of singers today ( quite rightly too )

I'm newer (been doing this stuff for four or five years) but not exactly younger - I'm old enough to have been into Nic the first time round, although in fact I missed out completely (something to do with punk, I think). I discovered Nic in about 2008, and oh my. I read somewhere that some people don't get the recognition they deserve, not because their influence is too small but because it's too big - it's like living under the shadow of a mountain, when you look out of the window you don't even see it. I've been trying to get out from under Nic's influence - in the nicest possible way - ever since I first heard him. I don't think I've managed it yet!
