Back when I was too youngndumb to worry I lived in tornado country for a couple of years but I don't remember even hearing about them. Nowadays I wonder why people don't have a 'safe' room all set up nice and comfy and go sleep in there automatically when the conditions are right for a storm? I wouldn't relish getting everybody up at 2 in the morning and hustling sleepy and scared people into a basement.
