Will highly suggest to Tom he make pasties for Monday's supper. Beef, onions, potato and rutabaga, please. We served pasties and porter at our potluck wedding reception back in 1982. Cut our wedding cake with a 16th century main gauche.

Pasties are rooted in my youth -- I was born in Stambaugh in Michigan's Upper Peninsula -- pretty much settled by the Cornish miners who came for the iron and copper.
