Romney keeps holding his 30-35% in the polls... but that only tells you what they are choosing from the available list! There is not much evidence that even 30% actually LIKE Romney....in fact there is good evidence most don't. (whih is why they temporarily tried out Bachmann, Cain, Perry, Gingrich...etc.)

It IS the sad case, however, that somewhere around 40-47% of Repubs would vote for anyone(even with horns & tail showing) to defeat Obama.   
   I can't see why, myself, that anyone would install an incompetent loser to run the country... just to defeat an obviously competent winner from the other party.... but the current conservatives have an entirely different mindset than what wee all grew up with.
