Doug, I'm a Gore supporter who feels that his greater command of international politics is a big part of his (relative) appeal. It's true that domestic issues have dominated the campaign, but when it comes to foreign policy expertise Bush can't touch Gore -- no matter how much pre-debate coaching he gets on the correct pronunciation of the names of foreign leaders. Also, however, I think that domestic policies and foreign policy are much more inter-related than some may think. Our military strength and international influence are largely dependent on our economic well-being and some degree of internal consensus. As Johnson found out during the Vietnam years, a President can't divorce his foreign policy agenda from his domestic agenda, or he'll lose support for both.
