Hi, Mom!

I have a question. Last weekend, there was a food vendor at the Renaissance Faire selling fried dough. A big sign above his trailer said, "Fried Dough".

So, here's the question: What the hell is fried dough? I mean, I understand the concept of frying dough, but after it's been fried, it's not dough anymore. By definition, dough is RAW! If you fry it, it's something else. Depending on what's in the dough, the fried item can be a doughnut, a hushpuppy, a fritter, or one of any number of variations on the theme. But if it's dough, it hasn't been fried. And if it's been fried, it's no longer dough.
