Thread Name: BS: Proof high earners are not fit to vote
Subject: RE: BS: Proof high earners are not fit to vote
Shimrod is right in some respects. The very rich can buy politicians, t'was ever thus and worldwide.

The original post concerned a bloke in a BMW and perhaps we need to define rich?

After all, the level that many can aspire to gets you to the stage where governments of either side see you as rich pickings. Pension? Well, they earn enough. Pay? They can afford to take a cut. Stamp duty? Serves them right for living where the jobs are. etc etc.

We see public sector professionals being vilified by Osborne and Cameron, mainly because of a sneaking suspicion they won't vote for them anyway. Vilified by those earning less, for reasons I could never fathom. Vilified by the chatterati because if the chattering classes don't exercise their jaws, they might seize up.

Incidentally, a thought I had at the beginning of this thread may at least pop out now. The people who are not fit to vote would be, in any reasonable world, those who would seek to stop others from voting.
