I had heard the "walking down the strand" one years before, but could never recall it. I've used this instead- but remembered the basic sense of the others posted above:

One day ole Puff was walking
Along that lonesome shore
When he saw a set of footprints he
Had not seen there before.
A voice came from behind him,
-said, "Puff, sir, don't be sad.
My name is Jenny Paper.
I was sent here by my dad."
