Hoses are a sore point here - I'm in the drought zone, and from the beginning of April, they are forbidden. Fortunately, my garden is small enough for me to lug watering cans from the tap.

This morning I had the delivery of carpet tiles. Predicted time of arrival, 7.30 on. Time of phone call "half an hour before", 7.00. "We'll be there in a couple of minutes." Fastest time I've ever got dressed from jim-jams.

Now to find the steel straight-edge.

I'm still confined to barracks because I'm getting a delivery of a small filing cabinet to replace one I broke on Thursday when moving it to find a Bible (in pursuit of an argument on the YEC thread.) The broken one was made of chipboard, and there was no way to re-attach the castor whihc fell off. Replacing was urgent, because I need the stuff in the old one out of the way of the curtain pole fitter tomorrow.

And I have to contact the roofer about PV panels, because the government arrangement for getting paid for power fed into the grid runs out at the end of the week. Frustrating, because after then, it requires me to be more insulated than is possible with my house design.
