It's odd, ya know. My grammae were a Campbell a Clark, as Anglo as they come, and my father raised in Rochester, my mother in Roxbury. But somewhere down the cascade of time we must have picked up a Roman gene, so I wasn't left with pale white skin, but a tad of color enoughto fend off the sun. Wherever that lick of the tarbrush came from, I am suitably grateful.
