I have one recipe that works pretty well for almost anyting:

1. Killit
2. Burnit
3. Eatit

Seems to work about every time.

I haven't noticed that using a fancy name for something changes how it tastes, but once when having a meal with a friend I was faced with a rather unidentifiable item and asked what it was called.

I was informed "in our family it's called SHADUPANEATIT."

The name was appropriate, but I've never tried to replicate the item.
