I may have averted a disaster by not getting sucked into the MegaMillions Lottery mania that seemed to afflict the entire US yesterday. I figured that with the odds of winning being 175 million to one, I had a better chance of being shot by an armed robber while standing in line to buy a ticket than I did of winning. So, I stayed home, didn't buy a ticket, didn't get shot, and am still alive and relatively well.
