Mine went the other way around - there is a restaurant here that gives free meals to vets on veteran's day, which we didn't know when we went there. There was a HUGE line but the boys, who were still small then, wanted to stay, so we did. When we got to the front of the line, the cashier asked, vet or non-vet, and I said, truthfully, non-vet. So he repeats the question louder, and I reply louder. So he repeats the question really loudly and slowly, so I say OK, vet, and he grins and hands me three meal tickets...
