Naemanson, the "what is folk" debate:

Side 1:
Folk music is traditional music of the common people. To be traditional, it has to have been passed down generations. No new stuff allowed...ever. Gotta go stomp on some Dylan CDs now.

Side 2:
You're all a bunch of pedantic old farts. If I sing it, it must be folk music. Categories? We don't need no steenkin' categories?

Side 3:
Folk music is traditional music, but the only way it gets to be traditional is if people learn it. So I'm learning some new songs AND some old ones.
