I haven't read the thread closely, but as I read I remember hearing the "Looky, Looky, Yonder" song on one of Sam Hinton's LPs. I can't remember all of the words, but others have referred to his version. I have the album, so I'll pull it out next time I get a chance.

I've heard people refer to some terms that may get lost in translation, so I thought I'd add a note that that the Gee and Haw (i.e., "gee by the lamb") are directional terms used with oxen as draft animals. (Some info here.) This may pertain to that line.
