I may be wrong, but I believe that red-tinted plastic sheets are sometimes used to cover text for dyslexic people, as it helps them to properly 'see' and perceive the words. As the diagnosis of dyslexia was in its infancy while I was teaching, I must be forgiven for not knowing any more than that!
