Thread Name: BS: Sleep (not)
Subject: RE: BS: Sleep (not)
I've had chronic insomnia off and on since the late 90s.

Lately I've been taking Melatonin as recommended on the insomnia thread. It's been great - yes, some vivid dreams but nothing unpleasant so far. And it seems to give me more energy in the day to get things done. However some have not found it useful.

Previously I've used valerian supplements which are pretty good, but I need less of the melatonin to get me to sleep. I also have a hypnotic cd which is effective, and a relaxing classical CD that gets me drifting.

Some say getting outr into the sunlight first thing in the morning helps tell your body that its daytime, + will assist in getting back to a proper day/night cycle.

Looking at the computer in the evening definitely seems to program my brain into some sort of hyper-alertness, so I try and get away from the computer by 9.30pm.

good luck, I sympathise, insomnia is a terrible thing.
