Thread Name: Lyr Req: On a dew-dew-dewy day (What do we do)
Subject: Lyr Req: On a dew-dew-dewy day (What do we do)
This is a Tin Pan Alley song from 1927. I've been trying to transcribe the lyrics from online sound files of the Ruth Etting recording (incidentally, Wikipedia says this was Edison's last recording), since I couldn't find a complete set online, and I've got most of them, but (especially towards the end) there are a couple of lines that I really can't put into spelling. Can anybody help? Here's what I've got, with "???" for the most impenetrable portions and (?) after a couple of transcriptions I'm not sure of:

What do we do on a dew-dew-dewy day

Bad days I just adore 'em
Bad days I'm crazy for 'em
When there's mist around,
Dew upon the ground.

I like too(?) funny weather
Don't like too sunny weather
With sweet-sweety mine
I can't enjoy my time

All we do is go out walking
When the sun shines bright and gay
But what do we do - what do we do
On a dew-dew-dewy day?

All we do is lots of talking,
On a moonlight night in May
But what do we do - what do we do
On a dew-dew-dewy day?

Do we love?
Do we play?
Do we hug just a little bit
Kiss just a little bit
Boy! I'll say!

When the parlour's warm and cosy,
And the old folks are away
Then, what do we do - what do we do
On a dew-dew-dewy day?

If it's raining when I start home,
Then he says I'll have to stay
Then, what do we do - what do we do
On a dew-dew-dewy day?

And when I lose my umbrella
And for lightning oh(?), I pray
Then, what do we do - what do we do
On a dew-dew-dewy day?

But when Ma
And his Pa
Both say let's not ???
???
I turn gray

Cause my baby sets on one chair
On the other I must stay
Then, what do we do - what do we do
On a dew-dew-dewy day?
