I bought a first edition of "Red Shift" (entirely by accident) years ago but I've never actually read it. The picture on the dust jacket is a silhouette of the folly on the top of Mow Cop.

And for those of you who are pronouncing "Mow" as they would when they mow the lawn, Mow should rhyme with "cow".
