Subject: BS: Which way is the future?
The Aymara of the Andes apparently place the past in front and the future behind. So no "looking to the future" or "that's behind us now" for them. It makes sense: you can see the past, but not the future.
When I'm on a train I always try to get a seat facing forwards, to the future for me. I feel uncomfortable seeing a past I haven't already experienced, as though it's old news. I want to be there first.
And the Yupno of Papua New Guinea see the future as uphill- out of their valley. I wonder if the Welsh have a similar concept.
