Subject: RE: Your proudest moment as a musician
My local pub held an air raid shelter theme night a while ago and the landlord asked me to do a turn. It was a raucous night with a lot of community singing and I was unusually nervous as I got up to perform. I usually do comedy numbers at an event like that but because of the theme I sang Noel Coward's "London Pride" unacompanied. I think the crowd, most of whom knew me, sensed my nerves and were pindrop quiet. Several of the older people who had lived through the blitz were blinking back tears. Several people have told me that that song is their abiding memory of a cracking night. I don't really perform in public very often, so to get a reaction like that chuffed me.
