I was talking to a guy from Eastport Maine at a bluegrass festival, and when he found out that I was from Machias, he said "Machias? I went to Machias looking for a girl, but left without one, They were all so ugly, the friggin' tide wouldn't take them out"! I was not offended, in fact, I laughed at the cleverness of the remark. I knew he was just being funny, and, it was not a personal attack.
