Hey, guys, the man apologized. There isn't much more that he can do.
He didn't mean to offend anyone, he's just this old, insensitive, liberal, ex-cop from Maine, who probably got kicked in the head by a moose one too many times and can't really be held responsible for what he says.
In fact, He probably stole the line from somebody else. He's not known for original thinking anyhow.
So lets everybody back off and show some respect for his advanced age and for the few grey hairs he has left. Just look on him as a crusty old uncle who sometimes says inappropriate things and to whom no one pays much attention.
