Thread Name: BS: Did dinos' farts cause their extinction?
Subject: RE: BS: Did dinos' farts cause their extinction?
They did indeed. Dinos would load up on vegetable matter or other dinos, and both produce immense amounts of intestinal gas. As the dinos got larger and larger more and more gas was produced. Finally, when they'd let one rip they'd shoot off like a balloon expelling all the air in it or they'd just explode. In either case it was the end of the dino; fragments in one case and an empty shell in another. The fossils we find are the empties, you can tell because they're usually pretty flat.

If you had been around at the end of the Jurassic you would have seen thousands of dinosaurs of all sizes jetting all over the place. And that wasn't an asteroid that finished them off -- it was a flatulent gigantosaurus who landed in the sea off Yucatan.
