It was such a great difference to stop all that back-combing and beehiving, making ones hair look like a bird's nest. The smooth and beautifully cut styles were easy to care for and looked simple but elegant. I well remember going up to London at that time with my two friends to Carnaby Street, and seeing all the young women strolling about looking like Twiggy, and the men wearing kipper ties.
