Subject: Liverpool Lyrics Song Book
Hello to all on Mudcat,

I suppose a brief intro is the usual thing, so, my name is John Haines, and I am originally from Crosby, now living in Southport, I am a keen amateur folkie as well as being a self publisher. I am also posting on behalf of my friend and colleague in this venture, Gerry Jones - a retired teacher, musician / band leader and local historian. In fact, Gerry is the senior partner in the project this concerns, details of which follow.

Gerry and I would like to let you all know of our brand new book, all about Liverpool folk songs written or repopularised during the 1960s folk song boom.

Before I go much further, I'd better state that if this breaks any forum rules, etiquette, decorum etc on here, then simply let me know, down it goes, no worries.

The Book is called Liverpool Lyrics - The Book - The Dots!

The book contains most of the well known Liverpool folks songs of this era; each song has its own section, and the section includes the lyrics, a basic music score (the dots), variations if known, and background information on the people, places and events which inspired the song, and on the writers and artiste/s most associated with it.

It is an 80 page A4 paperback book; there is a colour version (although there are some greyscale images within this), a cheaper black and white version, and a PDF download, which is far cheaper again. The book does not, currently at least, lend itself well to any EBook format, but there may be a way round this in the future. There is also an ebay auction which has 8 days to run (today is May 17 2012). For those who may be interested, do note, as with most retail sites, postal costs are on top of the item cost; these vary depending on country, and on the service chosen so perhaps do check these out before finalising any order. The download does not of course, have any such problems.

Although I will post the relevant links in a moment, of which the Lulu.com links all have generous previews so you can get a taster of what the book is about / looks like, here is the content list; at least you will know what songs are included and should give you a fair idea of whether it may interest you or not.
