Thread Name: Hymn-Sing May 20 2012 (Seattle)
Subject: Wesley, Watts & the AGO
Tomorrow will be the sixth Evergreen Hymn-Sing at Fremont Baptist Church, 717 N 36th St, Seattle. 1:30 pm (to 2:45). The title (and focus) is "Wesley, Watts & the AGO"; we'll focus on hymn texts by Charles Wesley and Isaac Watts, and will introduce several tunes composed by founding members of the American Guild of Organists. Here's the songlist.
Hail the day that sees him rise (to Laus Sempiterna)
A place in the choir (Staines)
Jesus, lover of my soul (to Martyn)
Come, thou long-expected Jesus (to a Russian tune)
He bowed the heavens (Penfield)
In age and feebleness extreme (to Vale)
Hark! how all the welkin rings (to Mendelssohn)
- (one verse also multilingually: Russian/Japanese/Swahili/Esperanto)
Hark! the herald angels sing (to Elderkin)
Lo! he comes with clouds descending (to Helmsley)

Before the Lord we bow (to Warsaw)
This is thy will, I know (to Trentham)
Ye ransomed sinners, hear (to Lenox)
A silv'ry tide called "Sunny-Side" (to The Sunny Side)
Sing to the heart of Jesus (to Heart of Jesus)
PEOPLE'S CHOICE 5
Marching to Zion
Mine eyes have seen the glory
Some glad morning
...in order to fit the time frame, most of the hymns will only be two or three stanzas...
If you like to sing hymns come on down and give it a try. There will be a freewill offering to benefit Fremont and Seattle homeless ministries, Burma Refugee resettlement in South King County, and Nzunga Mabudiga's Eye Clinic in Cap Haitien, Haiti, but admission is free.
Wouldn't sadden me at all to see an occasional Mudcatter at these things...
