Thread Name: Tech: Soundcard recording with Audacity
Subject: RE: Tech: Soundcard recording with Audacity
It seems from reading relavent data on the web that Microsoft have stopped supplying the driver required to record with Audacity. Right click on the speaker on the task bar and choose recording devices. Right click in recording devices and check 'show disabled devices'. If it doesn't show 'stereo mix' as a choice, Audacity won't record streaming audio. It seems if you use an audio driver from previous windows version, it will have the stereo mix option to use. I'm sure this info has been posted before on Mudcat, I'm sure someone will put me right if I'm talking a load of..
I'm running two win7 PCs, one has stereo mix available and Audacity works fine, the other doesn't have stereo mix available and Audacity doesn't record streaming audio.
So, can anyone explain to me how to change the audio driver in Win7, everytime I try, It says it is already up to date and I can't get any further?
