Heard two or three yesterday as I cycled round Durrus and Aughinish near Kinvara in the West of Ireland - and one just down the (country) road from me over the past week or two. No idea of the key - must try recording and analysing it...

So no great sign of decline around here in recent years. Unlikely, however, that I'll ever have a repeat performance of one of my favourite birding moments: standing on the main road just outside Athlone, at 2 a.m. listening to a cuckoo calling on one side of the road and a conrncrake rasping on the other! Both, no doubt, trying to attract migrating females. Many years ago.
