Hi gang, I have to add here how much I got from our trip.. Though I love new banjos(The ramsey 12"ers will make a great touring banjo))I must say how strong and personal a voice one gets from great old instroments.. There was a Farbanks at Amherst that just stood up and sang all on it's own..At Lexington was a Vega White lady ( Bonnie is that right) that was clear as a bell.. Also at Mandolin bros was another great early Vega( $6000.00 great)but incredable..
As far as playing goes I had such a great time playing with Bonnie.. I am working up again "East Viginia"(G sus 4: sawmil tuning), "Ruben's Train"(in D sus 4) "Wildwood FLower" ( in G tuning but with the 5th dropped to F and played in F)& House Carpenter (in G sus 4 :sawmill tuning)
Plus Bonnie showed me how to do a blue clicky thing.. Sometime I may even try it. She was so great at not telling me how poorly my eating habits were..So I eat 14 eegs a week and extra whipped cream on the Hot chocolate...Anyway I have to thank her here for comming all that way and giving me the excuse to play all thoughs great banjos.. ( and some wonderful guitars to boot)
We did have a blast and most do it some more!!!!! My best to all here
