This is the real version, and I know this because my Nanna born in 1893 sang it to me 100s of times throughout my childhood. Nanna came from a large very poor family and only affordable entertainment was the local Eastbourne Music Hall, admission a penny I think she said. I'm certain this is closer to the original because it has more alliteration.
