Lena, as long as you have your PC set up correctly for sound, if someone is speaking, you will have them. If you are talking there is a VU meter that may give you some idea that you are transmitting sound.

You could try clicking on the audio configuration link while in a hearme room. This will take you to a web page where you can get some idea as to what you are sounding like and set recording and playback levels. Go by what you hear rather than the meter though, the meter tells lies - the sound quality is not too good either.
