CarolC is my actual first name, and the first initial of my last name. It is not a pseudonym. It is an abbreviation of my real name. When people use pseudonyms as their regular screen names, or as a guest name that represents them in the same way as a screen name does, I don't feel that this is counterproductive or damaging.

When people use pseudonyms as a way to hide their identity in order to engage in behavior that is counterproductive or damaging, then in that case (in my opinion) the use of the pseudonym is also counterproductive and damaging.

In my opinion, threads that exist for the purpose of stirring up negative emotions in the forum, or for the purpose of manipulating people or jerking their chains, are counterproductive and damaging.
