Better Lying

Oh, if I were a better
Liar, I would be rich,
And weak as a slug
In sunlight.

Never mind that--I
Would spin you tales and you
Would come under my spell.

I would at least conquer
The world before I melted
In my puddle of fictions.

Could I fool everyone?
Even myself?
You bet!! I'd yell out
My magic.

I'd dance the liar's boogaloo
And create flurries of power
Until I melted.
