Thread Name: Lyr ADD: Willy the Spider (Scotty MacGregor)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Willy the Spider (Scotty MacGregor)
It is currently 6:30 PM 22 June 2012 and SOMETHING made me suddenly say to myself "Go on the internet and see if you can find "Willy the Spider" so you can listen to it". Well this thread is the only substantial reference I found and it's interesting to see how many persons have responded.

The bizarre thing is -- I only ever heard this song ONE SINGLE TIME. I did NOT have the record when I was a kid. Yet somehow that one hearing was enough to make a big impression on me I never forgot about it.

The latter fact and the many replies here indicate it must be a composition having qualities of a caliber beyond the norm ...

I heard it one single time on TV. And this was not when I was a little kid. This was later like maybe when I was in college in the early 1970s. I am also 61 years old and it's interesting to see that GUEST of 8 March 12 of my same age listened to it as a preschooler. If this is the case it must have been around some time before I heard it.

Yes that's the other question. Exactly when and where I heard it. Yes I think I was no longer a kid. I think it was likely on Captain Kangaroo I happened across one morning killing time. When did he go off the air ...?

I remember "Willy the Spider had too many shoes". I didn't remember "tripped on a lace" -- but did so whenI read it here above. The thing I liked most about the song was the rhythm -- a powerful three beat drum between verses. A great song. Maybe relatively hard core for a kid's song. Yes a quality piece of music!

So can anybody put it on YouTube?!

Enjoyed finding and reading this thread.
